Sonnet: Poet Confronts Unconscious

To explore an ice cave takes great courage.

A blank page forged from frost of the abyss.

Diving to the depths to obtain knowledge,

a place of confrontation with what is.

A world beneath a world: aquatic ice.

Niagara falls freezes and recovers,

brings tunnels, crevasses and precipice,

textures in our lives that we discover.

Knowledge from the sea depths comes at cost.

It’s dangerous lurking in these worlds unknown.

The hook that draws us deep may get us lost.

Resolving what seems real remains un-owned.

A glacier must ride on its own calving.

Explorers bring to light what is worth having.
